2009 Hunting Atlas Deletions/Additions/Corrections

These pages have changed since the atlas was printed. The online version of these maps is correct.

CORRECTION – On Index to Detailed Map Sheets Page
9/30/09:  # Restrictions for Walk-in Areas.  #10 is found in the atlas on some Walk-in Areas, but is not listed in the index.  The restriction for #10 is the same as #9.  Open to hunting Sept.1 – May 31. 

CHAP Rule Correction – Minnehaha County
9/14/09: CHAP ID 01B Rule # 2 Dyar Youth CHAP will be closed on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.

Map Sheet 10 & 11 – Butte County
Deletion 9/8/09: 1900 acres in the SE corner of Butte County, All contiguous WIA south of a line running west 1.5 miles from the NE corner of section 1.  Section 1 is 4 miles S of Fairpoint RD and 1.5 miles SE of the end of Bomb Range Rd.

Map Sheet 23 – Dewey County
Deletion 11/13/09: 40 acres Incorrectly labeled as WIA. From Dupree, approximately 1.5 miles East on U.S. Hwy 212, then North 8 miles on SD Hwy 65, then East 3 miles on a gravel road.  The 40 acres surrounds a ranch headquarters on the north side of the road. 

Map Sheet 24 – Dewey County
Deletion 9/7/09:  480 acres, 4 miles west of Eagle Butte on Hwy. 212 and 1 mile north.  It’s on the west side of the road.  The 480 acres are oriented in an upside-down “L” shape.

Deletion 9/7/09:  160 acres, 1.5 miles east of Bear Creek.

Map Sheet 26 – Haakon County
Addition 10/8/09:  160 acres, Approximately 5 miles south of Midland on Washboard road.  The 160 acres is located SW of the intersection of South Washboard Rd. and  Calhoon St.

Map Sheet 26 – Jones County
Addition 10/14/09:  960 acres, Approximately 7.5 miles south of Midland on Hwy. 63, then 4 miles east on church road to the NW corner of this area.  The WIA is 1 mile wide from West to East and 1.5 miles long from North to South and borders a State Game Production Area on the south end. 

Map Sheet 26 – Stanley County
Addtion 9/14/09:800 acres, 2 miles East of US Hwy 14 on Bad River Road.  480 of those 800 acres border the Bad River Road on the North Side.  Another 160 acres borders the 480 on the NE corner.  Another 160 acres borders the NW corner of the WIA depicted in the Hunting Atlas in the NE corner of Map Sheet 26.  This 160 acres is actual on Map Sheet 25. 

Map Sheet 29 –
Campbell County
Addition 10/5/09: 318 acres located 2 miles South of Pollock on the east side of SD Hwy 1804.  It is bordered on the south for a mile by 105th St. and on the east by 295th Ave.

Map Sheet 34 – Mellete County
Deletion 9/7/09:  160 acres in NE ¼ S.21, 8 miles west and 14 miles north of White River.  Approximately 1.5 miles north of Roundup Road. 

Map Sheet 36 – Campbell County
Addition 9/7/09:  160 acres, half mile east off Hwy. 271 on 106 St. (2 miles south of Artas).  It’s the 160 acres southeast of the intersection of 106 St. and 318 Ave.

Addition 9/7/09:  160 acres, half mile east off Hwy. 271 on 110 St. (6 miles south of Artas).  It’s the 160 acres northeast of the intersection of 110 St. and 318 Ave.

Map Sheet 38 – Faulk County
Addition 9/7/09:  480 acres, 3 miles west of Seneca on Hwy. 212 and 2.5 miles south on 329 Ave.  It’s northeast of the intersection of 164 St. and 329 Ave.  The 480 acres are oriented east-west.

Map Sheet 38 – Potter County
Delayed Opening Until November 1st 10/7/09:  160 acres 13 miles west of Gettysburg on U.S. Hwy 212 then 1 mile south on 296 Ave on the west side of the road. 

Delayed Opening Until November 1st 10/7/09:  160 acres 14 miles west of Gettysburg on U.S. Hwy 212 then 2.25 miles south on 295 Ave. on the East side of the road.

Map Sheet 38 – Sully County
Addition 10/28/09320 acres 6 miles north of Onida on Hwy 83 on the west side of the road.  Bordered on the south by 179th St. for a mile and on the east by Hwy 83 for ½ mile. 

Map Sheet 49 – Gregory County
Addition 10/14/09: WIA320 acres, Approximately 8.5 miles north of Bonesteel on SD Hwy. 1806 then about 3 miles northwest on Old 1806 Rd.  This WIA is on both sides of the road. 

Additon 10/14/09: WIA 3,444 acres, Approximately 8.5 miles north of Bonesteel on SD Hwy. 1806 then about 6 miles northwest on Old 1806 Rd.  About 1400 acres are south of the road and 2000 acres lie north of the road up to the Missouri River.

Map Sheet 53 – Beadle County
Deletion 11/5/09: WIA 140 acres, 1 mile west of Huron on US Hwy 14 and 0.5 miles north on 397 Ave.  This WIA  borders 397 Ave. on the west side for approximately 0.5 miles. 

Map Sheet 55 – Davison County
Addition 11/4/09: 60 acre CHAP located on the NE side of Mitchell at the intersection of SD Hwy 37 and 251st St.  Parking area is on the north side off of 251st St. 

Map Sheet 58 – Day County
Addition 9/7/09:  160 acres, 4.5 miles east of Langford on Hwy. 27/123 St. and 2 miles south on 424 Ave.  It’s the 160 acres southwest of the intersection of 125 St. and 424 Ave.

Addition 9/7/09:  320 acres, 7 miles east off Hwy. 25 on 129 St, 1 mile north on 446 Ave. and one mile east on 128 St.  It’s the 320 acres south of 446 Ave. not including the farmstead.

Map Sheet 59 – Day County
Deletion 9/7/09:  160 acres, about 3 miles east of Waubay on Hwy. 12, 3 miles south on 448 Ave., and a half mile east on 144 St.  It’s the 160 acres southwest of the intersection of 144 St. and 449 Ave.

Addition 9/7/09:  160 acres, about 7 miles east of Grenville on 132 St., just under a mile north on 448 Ave., and a half mile east on 131 St.  It’s the 160 acres northwest of the intersection of 131 St. and 449 Ave.

Map Sheet 64 – Hutchinson County
Addition 10/5/09: 40 acres, about 5.5 miles east of Menno on U.S. Hwy 18 then 1.25 miles south on 437th Ave to the NE corner of this 40 arces on the west side of the road. 

Addition 10/5/09:  110 acres, about 6 miles north of Olivet on 426th Ave. then east 2 miles on 280th St. to the SE corner of this 110 acres that is rectangular shape laying north to south in orientation. 

Map Sheet 66 – Roberts County
Addition 9/7/09:  140 acres, from exit 242 off I. 29, it’s 1 mile west on 110 St. and a half mile north on 464 Ave.  It’s the 140 acres southwest of the intersection of 109 St. and 464 Ave. not including the farmstead.

Map Sheet 68 – Deuel County
Deletion 9/7/09:  121 acres, 5 miles south of Hwy. 212 on 486 Ave.(just a mile west of the Minnesota Boarder) and a mile east on 174 St.

Map Sheet 69 – Brookings County
Addition 9/7/09:  80 acres, 3 miles south on Caspian Ave./465 Ave.(just east of Volga off Hwy. 14) and 2 miles east on 214 St. –or– 3 miles south on 469 Ave. (just west of Brookings off Hwy. 14) and two miles east on W 32 St. S/214 St.  It’s the 80 acres southwest of the intersection of 214 St. and 467 Ave.  The 80 acres are oriented north-south.
Map Sheet 73 – Clay County
Addition 9/23/09: 90 acres of WIA running east to west along the north shore of the Missouri River, 5 miles south of Gayville on 452nd Ave. then 1 mile east on 316th St. then ¾ of a mile south on 453rd Ave.

Addition 11/12/09: 132 acres bordering the North & East sides of the above mentioned WIA along the north shore of the Missouri River.
