Scope of this Addendum:

 

The following becomes a part of the original plans and specifications, taking precedence over the items that may conflict.  The bidder shall note receipt and make acknowledgment of the addendum on his bid form, incorporating its provisions in his bid.

 

Item No. 1.        See attached Question & Answer Sheet

Q – Are mechanic joints an acceptable means for connecting some of the segments for the 30” HDPE pipe?

 

A- Mechanic joint connections would be considered; provided the Contractor submits for review. 

 

Q – Sheet C-03 states survey datum as NAVD88, is this correct?

 

A – No, survey datum used will be the same datum used by the City of Rapid City who will set initial benchmarks for the Contractor’s use.  The correct survey datum is NAVD29.

 

Q – Do ballast blocks need to be backfilled or can they be set of the surface?

 

A – Ballast blocks do need to be backfilled.  Excavated material is acceptable to backfill the blocks.

 

Q – Can the same material be used for granular bedding and granular encasement?

 

A – Yes, material has the same gradation as described in the specifications.  The material is labeled differently on the plans because it has a different purpose.

 

Q – What is the required accuracy for bid item D – Staking & GPS Verification?

 

A –        Horizontal Tolerance = +/- 0.5 feet

              Vertical Tolerance = +/- 0.2 feet

 

Q – Can excess material from the pipe trench be wasted in the lake?

 

A – Yes, provided material can be wasted in a manner that is acceptable to the owner.  Owner will accept material that can be spread out along the lake bottom and is not noticeably visible.

 

Q – What color of concrete will be required?

 

A – The Contractor shall submit the color of concrete to the owner as described in Section 03300, Part 2, 2.02 C of the technical specifications.  The intent of the color is to match the rock outcropping in the immediate vicinity of the inlet structure.
