Great Trail Conditions in the Black Hills
PIERRE, S.D. – Snowmobile enthusiasts are taking a trip down memory lane as they travel to the Black Hills this winter. Many agree that snow conditions are the best the Black Hills has seen in a decade, with most comparing this winter to the conditions of 1996-97.

“I can’t think of a better way to spend some quality time with family and friends right now,” says Shannon Percy District Park Supervisor for South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks. “Trail snow depths have been up throughout the year, and our trail groomers have had difficulty keeping up with all the new snow.”

Trail Program Specialist Ryan Raynor would like to remind everyone to ride carefully, as these great conditions bring heavy traffic to the Hills. “Please be aware of your surroundings and slow down around corners, so everyone on the trail can have an enjoyable experience.”

February 14 will be particularly busy, as the South Dakota Snowmobile Association will be hosting the Annual Governor’s Ride. For more information or to pre-register for the ride, contact Mary Ann Grabow at (605) 272-5900.
