• SD GFP Announces Regional HuntSAFE Awards

PIERRE, S.D.-The South Dakota Game Fish and Parks Department has named its HuntSAFE instructors and teams of the year for 2008.  The awards are given on a regional basis. 

Award winners are as follows:

Stan Lieberman of Rapid City, Region 1 HuntSAFE Instructor of the year

Ron Kolbeck of Salem, Region 3 HuntSAFE instructor of the year

Dale Curtis of Ipswich, Region 4 HuntSAFE instructor of the year

Randy Larson and Darren Feenstra, Douglas County, Region 2 HuntSAFE team of the year

Patrick Weinacht, Duane Weinacht, William Weber and Joseph Weber, all of Dell Rapids, Region 3 HuntSAFE team of the year

David Cizaldo, Bernie Hermans, David Dockter, Rick Hentges and Dennis Skoog, all of Milbank, Region 4, HuntSAFE team of the year

“It is my honor to announce these award winners,” stated Curt Robertson, HuntSAFE Coordinator for South Dakota. “With great people leading teams like this in our state, the proud tradition of hunting in South Dakota is sure to endure.”

All award winners will be recognized at the 2009 HuntSAFE Conference in Rapid City on April 3^rd and 4^th. All regional winners are eligible for statewide HuntSAFE honors as South Dakota Instructor of the year. The statewide instructor of the year will be chosen from the four individual GFP regions and from nearly 300 active HuntSAFE Instructors statewide. The South Dakota instructor of the year will be announced at the Rapid City conference.
