Antlerless Deer License Numbers Corrected For Gregory And Mellette Counties

PIERRE, S.D. – The Game, Fish and Parks Commission has corrected the number of West River antlerless deer licenses available for Gregory and Mellette counties.

"The number of West River deer licenses approved by the commission in June was in error from the desired license allocations requested by GFP staff for Gregory and Mellette counties," said Wildlife Program Administrator Tony Leif. "The commission has now made those licenses available to hunters, which should help to ensure that adequate antlerless deer harvest is achieved in those units."

Adjusted antlerless license numbers include:

Gregory County unit 30A: Increase resident antlerless licenses from 0 to 150.
Gregory County unit 30B: Increase resident antlerless licenses from 0 to 150.
Mellette County unit 50A: Increase resident antlerless two-tag licenses from 75 to 200.
Mellette County unit 50B: Increase resident antlerless two-tag licenses from 75 to 100.

These "any antlerless" licenses, type 03 for Gregory County and type 09 for Mellette County, are available and included with the West River deer leftover licenses listed on the GFP website at www.sdgfp.info. To get to the leftover list, one should hold their cursor over "Licenses and Reservations," then click on the link to "Leftover Hunting Licenses." From there, look for the link leading to the leftover list for "West River deer."

Remaining West River deer licenses will be issued first-come, first-served either online or by mailing in a paper application. Anyone may apply for additional licenses, up to five maximum per person for this season.
