PIERRE, S.D. -- The South Dakota Department of Game, Fish, and Parks will be holding a series of open houses across the state to solicit input regarding mountain lion management in South Dakota.
"Game, Fish and Parks is developing a Comprehensive Mountain Lion Management Plan for South Dakota," said Region 3 Supervisor Arden Petersen of Sioux Falls. The Mountain Lion Management Plan can be viewed online at www.sdgfp.info/Wildlife/MountainLions/MtLionIndex.htm.
Part of the process for developing the Comprehensive Mountain Lion Management Plan for South Dakota involves taking public comment. Individuals unable to attend the open houses are encouraged to visit the web site and provide comments directly on the web page. Comments can also be submitted by writing to: Mountain Lion Plan Comments, Game, Fish and Parks, 523 East Capitol Ave., Pierre, S.D. 57501.
Listed below are the dates, times, and locations of the open houses in the southeast (Region 3) part of South Dakota. There will be a PowerPoint presentation regarding the Mountain Lion Management Plan at 5 p.m. and again at 6:30 p.m. at each of the following meetings in Region 3 in an attempt to accommodate the schedules of as many people as possible.
Additional meetings that will be announced at a later date are planned in the northeast and central parts of the state.
