Mountain Lion Number Five
PIERRE, S.D. – Game, Fish and Parks officials say the fifth mountain lion was harvested around 9:30 a.m. on Friday.
"The fifth cat was a 2-year old male that weighed 106 pounds and was in overall good condition, said GFP Wildlife Biologist Steve Griffin of Rapid City. "The young adult male was called in by a hunter that was specifically hunting mountain lions, and like the last hunter to harvest a mountain lion, he was using a fawn distress call." The animal was harvested near Roughlock Falls, approximately 11- miles south of Spearfish.
