South Dakota Parks En Plein Air

PIERRE, S.D. - South Dakota artist Jim Pollock recently took his watercolors outdoors to several South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks public use areas, and some examples of what he painted can be viewed in the recent issue of the South Dakota Conservation Digest magazine.

The July/August, 2005 issue of the South Dakota Conservation Digest magazine features an article written by the artist that documents his experience and includes many of the watercolor paintings that he did "en plein air" or on location in state parks and public use areas.

"Grabbing my paint gear and heading outdoors is something I get excited about," Pollock said. "There is something about working outdoors and on location that produces an emotional response that an artist needs to connect with the subject being painted."

The South Dakota Conservation Digest is a full color, bi-monthly magazine published by Game, Fish and Parks that focuses on South Dakota public outdoor resources.
