South Dakota Camping Give Away Rules

Contest hosted by the SD Division of Parks and Recreation.

No purchase necessary to win. South Dakota Camping Give Away (“Sweepstakes”) is open to all individuals who meet the age requirement written under “Eligibility.” Participation constitutes entrant’s full and unconditional agreement to and acceptance of these Official Rules. The South Dakota Camping Give Away begins on May 1, 2009 and eligible entries must be received by midnight CDT, on October 1, 2009 (“Sweepstakes Period”). Sweepstakes is hosted by the South Dakota Division of Parks and Recreation, A.K.A. South Dakota State Parks, 523 E. Capitol, Pierre, SD 57501 (“Host”).

Eligibility: Sweepstakes is open to all persons age 21 and older as of May 1, 2009. Employees, officers, and directors of Host, its parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, advertising, promotion, and fulfillment agencies, their immediate family members and persons living in their same household, are not eligible to participate in the Sweepstakes. Void where prohibited. All federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply.

Conditions of Participation: No purchase necessary. Enter Sweepstakes in either of these two methods:

Complete a SD State Park Comment Card and check the box indicating that you want to enter the contest and have your name/address/work and home phone numbers completed. Send the completed prepaid, self-addressed Comment Card to the SD Division of Parks and Recreation.
Send a postcard to Camping Give Away, South Dakota State Parks, 523 E Capitol Ave, Pierre, SD 57501. Include name/address/work and home phone numbers.

One entry per person per week is allowed. All entries become the exclusive property of the Host. Entries will not be acknowledged or returned. Host is not responsible for late, lost, damaged, incomplete, illegible, postage due or misdirected entries, or incomplete or garbled handwritten or typed communications that might limit the consumer’s ability to participate in the Sweepstakes. Host reserves the right to cancel or modify the Sweepstakes or disqualify a participant if fraud or technical failures destroy the Sweepstakes as determined by the Host.

Participation in the Sweepstakes constitutes permission to the Host to use participant’s name and contact information for marketing purposes.

Prize: Three winners will be selected. The first-prize winner will receive from the Host a choice of one of the following: a free three-night lodge rental at a state-owned lodge or a free three-night camping cabin rental in a state-owned cabin or a free three-night campsite stay at any state campground. The second-prize winner will have a choice of the remaining two prizes, and the third-prize winner will receive the remaining prize. Redemption of prizes must occur during the 2009 or 2010 calendar year, and will be coordinated by the Host. The reservation window limitations do not apply. Stays must occur on consecutive nights. Prize must be claimed by October 25, 2009. If the winners do not claim the prize for whatever reason or refuses the prize, an alternate winner will be chosen.

No alternative prize, cash, or other substitution is permitted. Prize is not transferable. All federal, state, provincial, and/or local taxes are the sole responsibility of the winner.

Selection of Winner: Winners will be determined by random drawing from all eligible entries received, to be held after the end of the Sweepstakes Period, midnight, October 1, 2009. All decisions are final and binding. The number of eligible entries received will determine the odds of winning. Winner will be notified by mail and/or telephone and/or email by October 15, 2009. Winner will have until October 25, 2009, to accept the prize by U.S. mail. Time will be extended if initial winner does not claim or refuses the prize and a second drawing takes place. Host is not responsible for and shall not be liable for late, lost, misdirected, or unsuccessful efforts to notify winner or for late, lost, misdirected, or unsuccessful efforts of winners to claim prize.

Winners will be required to sign and return a waiver of liability and indemnification. If selected winner cannot be contacted, is ineligible, fails to claim the prize, or fails to timely return the completed and executed declaration and releases as required, prize may be forfeited and an alternate winner selected.

Acceptance of prize constitutes permission to the Host to use winner’s name and/or likeness for purposes of advertising and promotion without additional compensation, unless prohibited by law.

Any attempt by an entrant or any other individual to deliberately undermine in any way the legitimate operation of the Sweepstakes may be a violation of civil and criminal laws. Should such an attempt be made, such entrant or individual shall be disqualified and Host reserves the right to prosecute any such individual to the full extent of the law.
