DESCRIPTIONS
Positions are available year round (primarily from
April - October)
POSITION Visitor
Center Host HOURS Three (3) eight (8) hour days DUTIES Work at one or more of the Park’s Visitor Centers or historic sites - greeting visitors, answering questions and selling Park publications. Assist with miscellaneous cleaning and other duties as assigned. |

POSITION Campground
Host
1. Blue Bell 2. French Creek Horse Camp 3. Game Lodge 4. Grace Coolidge 5. Legion Lake 8. Sylvan Lake HOURS Flexible (5 days per week) DUTIES Assist with the operation of the campground. Light maintenance duties, post reservations, collect money, public relations and assist campers in locating sites. |
| POSITION Ground
Maintenance HOURS Three (3) eight (8) hour days DUTIES Assist the ground maintenance crew in mowing, watering and associated grounds work. POSITION Heavy Equipment HOURS Three (3) eight (8) hour days DUTIES Assist heavy equipment crew in maintaining the Park’s road system, maintenance of the equipment and associated medium and heavy equipment projects. POSITION Vehicle Maintenance HOURS Three (3) eight (8) hour days DUTIES Assist the shop staff by completing engine repairs, tune-ups, parts run to Rapid City and Custer, and small engine repair. POSITION Truck Driver HOURS Three (3) eight (8) hour days DUTIES Drive semi truck for hauling hay, logs and heavy equipment. POSITION Corral Maintenance HOURS Three (3) eight (8) hours days DUTIES The Park maintains a large corral facility which is used during the buffalo roundup and sale. This volunteer must be able to work unsupervised to repair gates, fences and corrals. POSITION Trail Development HOURS Three (3) eight (8) hour days DUTIES Assist trail crew in the inspection, maintenance and development of hiking/horseback riding trails throughout the Park. POSITION Office Assistant HOURS Three (3) eight (8) hour days DUTIES Assist office staff by typing, filing, answering phones, newspaper clipping, etc., and computer applications if qualified. POSITION Building Maintenance HOURS Three (3) eight (8) hour days DUTIES Assist the building maintenance crew in the maintenance, repair, and construction of Park buildings and facilities POSITION Entrance Station Assistant HOURS Three (3) eight (8) hour days DUTIES Work at one or more of the Parks five entrance stations, providing information and selling park entrance license to guests as they enter the Park POSITION Horseback Trail Maintenance HOURS Three (3) eight (8) hour days DUTIES Volunteers selected for these positions must provide their own horse, will be provided a campsite at the buffalo corrals and will complete back country trail maintenance projects. |
