Antelope hunting in South Dakota is limited to the West River area of the state. Most antelope are on private lands where permission is needed. A listing of landowners is unavailable. The West River region is divided into units, each with a set number of licenses sold only by lottery.  Depending on the unit, both one-tag and two-tag licenses may be available. Consult the firearms antelope application for details.

Shooting hours: All firearms and archery big game shooting hours (except turkey) are one-half hour before sunrise to one-half hour after sunset. Shooting hours for turkey season are one-half hour before sunrise to sunset.

South Dakota's antelope licenses are distributed by lottery drawings.  Hunters should either acquire and complete a paper application and mail it to the the Game, Fish and Parks license office on or before the indicated deadline, or apply online with a credit card.  See the links above for applications, information and to apply online.
