Mountain Goat


Picture of Mt. Goats & Mt.Rushmore.jpg (26882 bytes) The mountain goat is actually a mountain antelope and not a true goat. The Rocky Mountain goat could not be found in South Dakota until 1924 when they were stocked in the Black Hills. Today the herd ranges in the Harney Peak and Needles area.

Resident Licenses - 2 available

Eligibility:  To be eligible one must be a South Dakota resident who has never received a South Dakota Mountain Goat License. A person can only receive this license once in a lifetime.

Season Dates:  The 2007 season is CLOSED
