Camping Cabins in South Dakota state parks

Camping cabins feature a double bed
and a bunk bed. Each cabin sleeps four. 

Camping Cabins
These one-room, log-style cabins are found in parks throughout the state. Each cabin has heating, air conditioning and electricity. Furnishings include a set of bunk beds, double bed, table and benches. Outside, a fire grate, picnic table and the porch provide a pleasant place to relax and enjoy the outdoors.

Things to know about cabins

  • Cabins can be reserved year-round.
  • Pets are not permitted in the cabins. 
  • Please, no smoking. 
  • Check out time is noon. At Custer State Park, check out time is 11 a.m.
  • Refrain from cooking or cleaning game inside the cabins.
  • Linens are not provided.
  • Cabins do not have restrooms, running water or kitchens.
  • Cabins sleep four people.

Fees

  • Camping Cabin (incl. electricity) -  $35/night

  • Prime cabins (at Lewis & Clark, Chief White Crane, Pierson Ranch and Fort Sisseton, incl. electricity) - $40/night

  • Custer State Park - $45/night

  • A park entrance license is also required.

Reservations

Camping cabins may be reserved year-round by calling the toll-free reservation line (1-800-710-CAMP) or reserving online at www.CampSD.com.

Reservations can be made within 90 days of arrival. It's a good idea to plan ahead, as the popularity of these cabins has grown at a tremendous rate during the past several years.

Fort Sisseton Cabins
Three uniquely-styled cabins are available at Fort Sisseton for $40/night. Each cabin offers the same amenities as other camping cabins and the same regulations apply. Furnishings in these cabins include a set of bunk beds and two double beds to sleep six people. A fourth cabin, to be shared with the other cabin users, is set up as a cooking cabin, complete with stove, refrigerator, microwave and sink.
