Disc Golf in SD state parks
Print the brochure. Requires Adobe Acrobat Reader

Disc golf courses are found at six SD state parks.

As simple as a flick of the wrist, disc golf is a growing sport enjoyed by players of all ages and abilities.

The SD state park system features eleven disc golf courses, many of which were made possible through a grant from the SD Department of Health.

Disc golf courses can be found at the following parks

How to play

The only thing you need to play disc golf is a flying disc. Players throw the disc from the tee area in the direction of the next "hole", or metal basket. Each player then throws again from where the disc lands. To finish a hole, the player must "putt" into the metal basket. As with traditional golf, the player with the fewest strokes, or throws, wins. Most courses are comprised of nine holes.

While any disc can be used to play, some are designed specifically for the sport. Some curve to the left or right to combat wind, while others are designed for long drives or short, accurate throws.

Cost / Equipment
There is no cost to play on any of the courses as long as you have a valid Park Entrance License.

No disc? No problem. Each of the parks have discs available to check out. Contact the individual park for more information on its disc golf course. More equipment checkout / rentals

SD State Parks Disc Golf Challenge
The South Dakota Division of Parks and Recreation challenges disc golfers to play many of the courses in the state park system. Play just five courses to receive a commemorative disc golf sport towel. Those who play at least ten courses will receive a commemorative disc. Offer good while supplies last. To qualify, all play must be at South Dakota state parks.
