Hiking Trails in South Dakota State Parks

Hiking in the South Dakota state parks (on the Mickelson Trail)While you can walk almost anywhere in the South Dakota state parks, several parks feature hiking trails to take you out into nature. Hiking trails in the South Dakota state parks range from flat to steep, from prairies to hills and in length from 100 yards to 109 miles. Several parks feature interpretive information to highlight the rich natural and cultural history of the area. They are also commonly the site of the Walk in the Park programs, guided, educational hikes held throughout the year and co-sponsored by the SD Departments of Health and Education.
