Lewis and Clark Recreation Area

Lewis and Clark Lake, near Yankton, is one of the state park system's most popular resort parks. Three separate units comprise this modern recreation area, attracting visitors from throughout the Midwest. Modern resort facilities - from marinas to camping cabins to sandy beaches - attract water lovers to Lewis and Clark.

 Camping/Cabins
  • Located 4 miles W of Yankton off SD Hwy 52  Location map (Requires Adobe Acrobat Reader.)  DOT Road Report

  • Open year-round

  • Park entrance license required: $5/day/vehicle or $23 for an annual pass

  • Camping & Fees:  $16/site, $18/prime (waterfront) site. 374 sites (all electrical, 35 prime). Three accessible sites. Showers. Water. Dump station.
    Horse Camp:
    $16/site. Eight sites, all electrical.
     

  • Camping Cabins: 15 cabins, one accessible. Each sleeps four people. $40/night.

  • Reservations:
    (800) 710-2267 or www.CampSD.com. Up to 90 days prior to arrival. Campsites and horse camp May to Oct. Cabins year-round. 82 sites available first-come, first-served. Group reservations available, open Nov. 1 for upcoming season.

  • Recreation: Camping. Cabins. Archery area. Paved, accessible hiking/biking trail. Mountain bike area. Boating. Nine-hole disc golf course. Fishing. Game/equipment checkout. Historical interest. Horse trail and camp. Horseshoes. Eight picnic shelters. Playground. Swimming. Volleyball. Soccer. Welcome center. Nearby golf course. Resort. Marina.

  • Swimming/Beaches: Ski beach, swimming beach. No lifeguard on duty. Swim at your own risk.

  • Fishing/Boating:  Three boat ramps. Accessible fishing dock. Fish cleaning station. Fishing license required.

Sandy beaches provide endless satisfaction for sun lovers. Choose from 374 campsites or use one of the 15 rustic log-style camping cabins if you don't have a camper or tent.

 Gavins Point Exploration
A sunny swimming beach awaits you at this area. Hiking trails, a rustic horse camp and riding trails are also available for those who wish to explore the undeveloped portions of the park.  Concession Area
Lewis and Clark Resort offers modern lodging accommodations, with 24 spacious motel units, 17 modern two- and three- bedroom cabins and a swimming pool, providing a new dimension to outdoor fun. A marina operated by Lewis and Clark Marina, offers a floating fuel dock, slip and boat rentals to aid your water recreation. Afterwards, enjoy a meal in the waterfront restaurant.
