PERSONAL WATERCRAFT (PWC) RULES
- Except in an emergency, person under the age
of 14 may not operate or be permitted to operate a personal watercraft unless
there is another person 18 years of age or older on board.
- Each person aboard must be wearing a U.S.
Coast Guard approved life jacket.
- If the PWC is equipped with a lanyard type
engine cut-off, the lanyard must be attached to the operator's person,
clothing, or life jacket.
- Operation is not permitted between one-half
hour after sunset to one-half hour before sunrise unless proper navigation
lights are displayed.
- A U.S. Coast Guard approved fire extinguisher
of type B-1 is required.
- When within 150 feet of any dock, swimmer,
swim raft or nonmotorized boat, speed your speed must be slow-no-wake.
Slow-no-wake is the slowest possible speed necessary to maintain steerage but
in no case greater than 5 mph.
- It is unlawful to chase or harass wildlife.
NOTE: These regulation are specific to
personal watercraft. Personal watercraft must also be licensed, numbered and
operated in compliance with all state laws and regulations pertaining to CLASS A
motorboats (motorboats less than 16 ft. in length).
