Policies for outside organizations who want to meet at The Outdoor Campus
Usage Policy
The Outdoor Campus’ limited meeting room spaces is available on an as-needed basis for the following:

  • Outdoor-related education classes
  • Outdoor-related clubs and organizations, teaching outdoor-related skills.
  • Other education-related events, if they meet with group requirements
  • Service clubs can meet once per year if The Outdoor Campus is the topic/speaker/program.

Group Requirements
Groups using the room must be outdoor-related organizations. This includes clubs that support outdoor sports and recreation, wildlife clubs, and other such organizations.

Each group using the room must have philosophical agreement with the SD Department of Game, Fish and Parks on land and wildlife management issues.

This meeting space is provided free of charge for groups. To enable continued free use by outdoor groups, please keep in mind the following:

  • Staff are NOT assigned to set up and clean up after groups. Group members must arrive early enough to prepare the space for the group’s needs, and return it to the original configuration after the meeting is over.
  • Groups should bring their own kitchen supplies. The Outdoor Campus does not provide cups, beverages, sodas, or other supplies to groups.

Use Limitations
First priority will be given to The Outdoor Campus classes and educational programming.

  • The Outdoor Campus reserves the right to change room reservations if the room is needed for Outdoor Campus purposes. In rare cases, we reserve the right to reschedule your group to another date. You will be notified in advance if this is the case.
  • Permission to use The Outdoor Campus meeting spaces does not constitute The Outdoor Campus or SD Game, Fish and Parks endorsement of the group or the views espoused by the group. Groups using the meeting room must clearly indicate in their advertisements and news releases who is sponsoring the event.
  • The Outdoor Campus reserves the right to deny use of the facility when activities infringe upon or interfere with regular use of the building.
  • No activities are allowed that endanger the health or safety of the participants.
  • Meeting rooms will not be available for promotion of fee-based products or services, for the sale of items, or when an admission fee is charged.

Reserving a Room
Call The Outdoor Campus at the beginning of each calendar year to schedule your meetings for the upcoming year. This is done on a first-come, first-served basis. Do not assume your organization will automatically be booked from year to year.
