Willow Dam Lake

Went fishing with my family, tried all kinds of bait. Catching 20 inch northerns pretty regularly casting jig and minnow and also spoons.  Weather was nice (as far as season has been) sunny and a slight breeze.  Seen a walleye chase my jig to shore but could not get to bite.  Good place to take kids.  Beware of min. maint. road could get stuck.

Barry Higginbotham

Ft Pierre SD

Fished from May 22 through May 28, 2009 at various times from east shore near Corps Bay on Lake Oahe.  Caught and released over 15 pre spawn small mouth bass during this time ranging from 10 – 19 inches in size.  One northern pike about 3 lbs. One channel catfish 2.5 lbs. Using countdown method I estimated the water depth to be between approximately 3 feet near shore to 20 feet at maximum cast.

Weather varied from sunny to overcast during these day temps high 60’s to 80’s winds calm to gust over 20mph.

Used minnows,  plastic 3.5” vibratail jigs and deep diver rapala.  The vibratail and the rapala worked best bite with slow to moderate retrieval.  After the bass tore the tail off the vibratail jig it made the jig more erratic and aided the catch.  Caught the pike and catfish using the minnows.
