| The mountain goat is actually a mountain antelope and
not a true goat. The Rocky Mountain goat could not be found in South Dakota until 1924
when they were stocked in the Black Hills. Today the herd ranges in the Harney Peak and
Needles area.

Eligibility: To be
eligible one must be a South Dakota resident who has never received a South
Dakota Mountain Goat License. A person can only receive this license once in a
lifetime.
