National Wildlife Refuge Deer Seasons


National Wildlife Refuge deer hunters must apply for and successfully draw a tag by lottery drawing. This is done by acquiring the current application, completing it and submitting it with payment by the indicated deadline. Applicants can also apply online with a credit card. See links below.

FLUORESCENT ORANGE:

Refuge regulations require that firearm deer hunters at Sand Lake and Waubay National Wildlife Refuges must wear a minimum of 400 square inches of visible solid fluorescent orange (not camouflage orange) material on the head, chest and back.


2007 National Wildlife Refuge Deer Season Dates:

  • *Sand Lake National Refuge: RFD-SL1 (muzzleloader only) - Nov. 10-14
  • Sand Lake National Refuge: RFD - SL2 - Nov. 15-19
  • Sand Lake National: Refuge RFD - SL3 - Nov. 20-25
  • Sand Lake National Refuge: RFD - SL4 - Nov. 26 - Dec. 2
  • Sand Lake National Refuge: RFD - SL5 - Dec. 3-9
  • *LaCreek National Refuge: RFD - LC1 (muzzleloader only) - Oct. 17-23
  • *LaCreek National Refuge: RFD - LC2 (muzzleloader only) - Nov. 21-27
  • *Waubay National Refuge: RFD - WA1 (muzzleloader only) - Nov. 9-13
  • *Waubay National Refuge: RFD - WA2 (muzzleloader only) - Nov. 14-18
  • Waubay National Refuge: RFD - WA3 - Nov. 19 - Dec. 9

*Muzzleloaders only for these seasons

  • Resident Fee - Single Tag $35, Double Tag $25
  • Nonresident Fee- Single Tag  $195, Double Tag $80
