2008 YOUTH WATERFOWL SEASON
- Youths are being given the
opportunity to hunt waterfowl before the regular seasons open.
Identification will be important. Ducks will
not be in full plumage, making them hard to identify.
Resident youths ages 12 to 15
must purchase the youth small game and Migratory Bird Certification, but are exempt from
buying the federal waterfowl stamp.
SEASON DATE.
Sept. 20-21
HUNTING UNIT: Statewide.
SHOOTING HOURS. One-half hour before sunrise to sunset.
DAILY LIMIT: The duck limit for the youth
waterfowl season is the same as during the regular duck season. Likewise, the goose limit
includes only Canada geese, which is the same as during the regular Canada goose
season (3),
except where the early fall Canada goose season is open, the Canada goose limit is the
same as for that season (5).
NONTOXIC SHOT. Youths may not use or possess lead shot
when hunting water-fowl during this one-day season.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
- Youth must be properly licensed
- Youth must be under 16 years of age
- Youth must be accompanied by an adult (18 or older). The
adult can carry a firearm for waterfowl, but may only hunt Canada geese (no ducks) during
the early fall Canada goose season. Adults may participate in other open seasons.
- All other restrictions are the same as during the regular
waterfowl seasons.
